But the most preferred time is before sunrise, in the last third of the night. For more information, read our article on qiyam. The only difference is in the Asr prayer. In the standard method which is used by Imamas Shafii, Hanbali, and Maliki the Asr prayer time starts when the shadow of an object is equivalent to its height, whereas in the Hanafi method the Asr prayer time starts when the shadow of an object is twice its height.

The five daily prayers include: Fajr sunrise prayer , Dhuhr noon prayer , Asr afternoon prayer , Maghrib sunset prayer , and Isha night prayer. Each prayer has a specific window of time in which it must be completed.
These timings are based upon the sun. For this reason, the timings of each prayer window change marginally and gradually each day and are different at various times of the year. The end timings of each prayer except for the sunrise prayer is marked by the beginning of the next prayer. Prayers may not be combined or skipped, thus proving to occasionally be a conflict among students with classes or labs that cover this entire prayer window. However, the only two prayers that typically may prove to come in conflict with class scheduling are Asr and Maghrib.
Typically it should not take much longer! Some prayers are said out loud, resulting in leaving the room being a necessity in order to not further disrupt the class. To ensure clarity, we would like to offer an example. The Asr prayer these days starts at and ends at give or take a few minutes. This means Maghrib starts at If students have a lab that runs from 3pm to 6pm, Asr starts and ends within the time period of the lab; this necessitates a student to respectfully ask to leave to perform prayer.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but perhaps if the faculty were to know all that is relevant to Muslim prayer practices, things may run more smoothly. On the flip side, however, if a prayer starts during a class but ends after class, it is only fair and proper that the student performs his or her prayer after class. In Islamic countries, the public call to prayer from the mosques sets the rhythm of the day for the entire population, including non-Muslims.
The prayer ritual, which is over years old, is repeated five times a day by hundreds of millions of people all round the world. Carrying it out is not only highly spiritual, but connects each Muslim to all others around the world, and to all those who have uttered the same words and made the same movements at different times in Islamic history. Prayer for a Muslim involves uniting mind, soul, and body in worship; so a Muslim carrying out these prayers will perform a whole series of set movements that go with the words of the prayer.
Muslims make sure that they are in the right frame of mind before they pray; they put aside all everyday cares and thoughts so that they can concentrate exclusively on God. If a Muslim prays without the right attitude of mind, it as if they hadn't bothered to pray at all.
Muslims pray because God has told them that they are to do this, and because they believe that they obtain great benefit in doing so. In the ritual prayers each individual Muslim is in direct contact with Allah. There is no need of a priest as an intermediary. While there is a prayer leader in the mosque - the imam - they are not a priest, simply a person who knows a great deal about Islam.
